ISC Programme at St. Mary’s
Empowering Learners. Building Leaders. Enriching Lives.
The Junior College was established under the leadership of Mrs. Veena Thadani in 2009.
Mrs. Diamay Menzies serves as the current Vice Principal at SMJC, ably mentoring and moulding our
students into young adults, ready to serve their community and country.
Welcome to the Indian School Certificate (ISC) Junior College Section at St. Mary’s, where academic
excellence meets holistic growth. Our ISC curriculum is thoughtfully designed to prepare students not only
for outstanding examination results but also for success in higher education and life beyond the classroom.
At SMJC, we believe learning is more than content; it is an evolving journey that nurtures curiosity,
character, and confidence. Through a blend of rigorous academics, vibrant co-curricular experiences, and
meaningful engagement, our ISC students grow into articulate communicators, thoughtful citizens, and
inspired leaders.
The ISC curriculum offers a challenging and comprehensive programme that prepares students thoroughly for Grade XI and XII board examinations as well as competitive examinations.
English at the ISC is not just a subject – it is the medium of communication, instruction, and expression across academic and co-curricular domains. Students are trained in advanced reading, writing, and oratory skills, shaping them into confident global communicators.
The ISC Programme is thoughtfully aligned not only with CISCE benchmarks for excellence but also with the demands of competitive entrance examinations across subjects. Through rigorous subject mastery, analytical training, structured assessments, and disciplined academic mentoring, students are systematically prepared for national-level competitive examinations and professional courses.
At the same time, the programme cultivates research aptitude, academic writing proficiency, and intellectual independence, enabling students to build strong profiles for higher education abroad. Our alumni have gone on to pursue undergraduate studies at leading universities across the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore, and premier Indian institutions.
Faculty members are experienced educators who foster deep conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and intellectual curiosity in every learner.
We are committed to nurturing the whole child. Beyond academic mastery, students engage in structured programmes that build:
To bridge the space between classroom learning and the professional world, the Junior College incorporates mandatory summer internships that provide meaningful on-the-job exposure.
Students engage with organizations across diverse sectors including research laboratories, legal firms, media houses, financial institutions, non-profits, healthcare establishments, and entrepreneurial ventures.
These internships are carefully guided and reflective in nature, ensuring active participation and structured learning. Through this engagement, students develop workplace etiquette, accountability, communication skills, and practical problem-solving abilities.
Service is a core value at our school. ISC students actively participate in community outreach initiatives where they:
These experiences enrich students’ perspectives and cultivate a lifelong commitment to making a positive impact in society.
Creativity flourishes on our stage! Each year, our students take the spotlight in larger-than-life theatrical productions celebrating literature, culture, and original storytelling.
Our Junior College is a vibrant community where leadership is fostered and friendships flourish. Through leadership opportunities and activities, students develop:
Here, every voice matters and every student is encouraged to lead with integrity and heart.
Euphoria is our much-anticipated cultural festival, a dynamic celebration of creativity, collaboration, and youthful energy. Drawing participation from students across the city, the festival transforms the campus into a vibrant arena of music, theatre, dance, art, and intellectual competitions. Meticulously curated and student- led, Euphoria offers young talents a professional platform to showcase their abilities, build confidence, and engage in healthy competition. Beyond performance, it nurtures teamwork, leadership, and organisational skills, making it not merely an event, but a formative experience that reflects the spirit, community, and creative excellence of our school community.
At the heart of our Junior College Section is a belief that education should be challenging, enriching, and empowering. Students leave our programme not only with excellent academic credentials but also with:
