3rd of December—St. Mary’s was abuzz with excitement as three curtain raiser inauguration events were planned for the day.
The specially designed neon sign was inaugurated at nine a.m. with a customary prayer said by Mrs. Kokil Paul, Vice Principal of the Girls’ Section. Our Principal, Mrs. Mallic Kumar inaugurated the neon sign in front of the representatives of students and teachers of all the sections, the office staff and the senior most ancillary staff.
The inauguration of the LED sign board near the main gate which would be announcing all the important information in the future was next. The representatives stood in an orderly manner as the prayer was said by the Vice Principal of the Prep school, Mrs. Nair. As the Principal inaugurated the neon sign, the screen came alive with animated characters and a lively congratulatory song simultaneously announcing the countdown of the sesquicentennial year. A cheer broke out amongst the audience.
Inside the School, another group waited to see what lay behind the red satin curtain.
Mrs. Khisty, Vice Principal of the Boys’ Section read out the prayer. Mrs. Thadani, Vice Principal of the Junior College spoke about the “Tiled memories of 150 years”.
As soon as Mrs.Mallic Kumar unveiled the wall, everyone was delighted to see the vibrant and colourful wall tiles which told the story of 150 years. ...party poppers popped , petals were strewn and the Vice Principals and the teachers and students released the balloons carrying the message of our “Glorious 150 years”.
